I recently volunteered to speak at an anti-fraud event for the Gal Senior Care Foundation and I’m so glad I was given this opportunity. I’ve talked with seniors that have been targeted by scammers and then feel embarrassed to report it. These scams take advantage of people’s trust and of technological gaps in the senior community. It’s painful to see how far some of these frauds go.
During the talk I shared the most common red flags and how to protect yourself, as well as where to report and seek help. Also, I reminded them that there’s no shame in being targeted, or in falling for a scam. It can happen to anyone.
I received lots of support from the Gal Senior Care Foundation in order to prepare for the event, and also during the event, I will definitely continue being a part of the talks when possible. Thank you!
