Landen Joins Kelowna Geocaching Club for a Community CITO Event

On December 12, some friends and I joined a local Cache In, Trash Out (CITO) event with the Kelowna Geocaching Club. We spent the afternoon fixing paths and cleaning up trails around Knox Mountain. It was a great excuse to get outside while doing something useful for the community. After the cleanup, the Kelowna Geocaching Club treated everyone who attended to a round of bowling. The turnout and overall vibe were so positive that a lot of people were already talking about coming back for the next CITO event.

I originally joined the Kelowna geocaching community a couple of years ago while working on a short documentary about geocaching. Through that process, I connected with the local geocaching club and quickly saw how community-focused they are. Since then, they have hosted many CITO events, regularly organizing cleanups and maintenance around local trails and outdoor spaces. Attending these events has been a meaningful way for me to get outdoors and give back to my local community. These CITO events happen all over the world, and if you’re interested in helping there’s a good chance you can find one happening in your own city or town.
